Terry and Desi welcome you to The Troubridge Hotel at Edithburgh, Yorke Peninsula. Together Terry & Desi bring over 20 years experience in owning regional Hotels and Motel accommodation. If you are looking for friendly, country hospitality from hosts that go that extra mile for their guests - then you have found the best holiday experience on the Yorke Peninsula!

Terry’s Uncle, William “Bill” Bull was the Troubridge lighthouse keeper during the 1960’s so it’s lovely for the family to enjoy a generational link with Yorke Peninsula.

The Troubridge Hotel features a quality restaurant that hosts functions and weddings.  The main bar exudes that unspoilt country feeling with pool tables and games for the kids. The front bar has TAB and just around the corner is the modern gaming facility. You can enjoy the big screen TV’s to view all major sporting, and entertainment events while your having a quiet one with the locals.

The Troubridge Hotel Restaurant provides a delightful combination of different cuisines with seasonal menus including Seafood, Pasta’s, Curries, Steaks and Chicken dishes. There is something to tempt even the most finicky diner. The Troubridge Hotel Restaurant offers quality, affordable meals for the whole family. You can dine in our popular restaurant or enjoy a steak in the front bar. Make sure you check out our specials board. Come in for Lunch from 12 noon and Dinner from 5:30pm daily.

Edithburgh Yorke Peninsula

Edithburgh Yorke PeninsulaEdithburgh is one of Yorke Peninsula's oldest towns and was founded in 1869.

Edithburgh was originally developed as a port for servicing the local pastoral industry. In the 1870s grain farming became a major industry and is still a major part of the local economy.

The Edithburgh Jetty was built in 1873 for shipping salt, gypsum and lime off to Adelaide. Salt was one of the major industries of Edithburgh prior to 1891.

There is so much to do and see around Edithburgh you will be so glad you booked your accommodation at The Troubridge Hotel.

Edithburgh Yorke PeninsulaToday the Edithburgh jetty is used mostly for recreational fishing and is a popular scuba diving site for divers to swim with a variety of marine life. Look out for leafy sea dragons, seahorses and our world famous cuttlefish, all swimming amongst the most colourful of corals Yorke Peninsula has to offer.

There is also a small fishing and prawning fleet based in Edithburgh. Sultana Point Beach is perfect for visitors with a boat because it has an all weather ramp.
If you’re in to renewable energy, check out the Wattle Point Wind Farm, just a short drive from The Troubridge Hotel. A viewing area enables you to stand below a 70m high wind turbine so you can really enjoy the power of nature.

Troubridge Island can be seen from the beach hence the name of our Hotel. Edithburgh is a very popular Yorke Peninsula holiday spot for generations of South Australians so it’s always best to book ahead at the Troubridge Hotel to ensure your accommodation.

Edithburgh Yorke PeninsulaFor holidaymakers who prefer not to relax in the open sea, Edithburgh has a unique seawater swimming pool constructed on the shoreline similar to Bondi. Built in the 1880’s the tidal pool was on the southern catered for the ladies, as mixed bathing was not permitted. Later the township decided to build another pool for men. Its sheltered waters are refreshed with each rising tide.

 

Troubridge Island Lighthouse

Troubridge Island LighthouseThe Troubridge Island Lighthouse was completed in 1855, and was the second lighthouse to be built in South Australia It is constructed of cylindrical cast iron segments shipped out from Britain and bolted together on site. It is believed to be only one of two towers of this type constructed in Australia.

In 1956 the light was upgraded to increase the visibility range from the original 10 miles to 25 miles and the tower was repainted from the original colours to bright red with a white horizontal band as a day mark.

 

Troubridge Island Conservation Park

Edithburgh Yorke PeninsulaThe Park is a fascinating environment for all nature enthusiasts. This fragile ecosystem is an important breeding area for native birds and is home to a large colony of little penguins, black-faced cormorants and crested terns. Only a
ccessible by boat, once you've reached this peaceful island, take in its beauty by fishing or swimming along the white sandy beaches.
Troubridge Island is accessible by permit only which are available from the Innes National Park office or Troubridge Island Hideaway and Charter.

 

Coobowie Bird Hide

The Coobowie estuary is home to a fascinating array of birdlife. Nestled at the edge is a wonderful bird hide to enable you to watch our feathered friends go about their business. You can also walk around to the Coobowie Bird Hide from The Troubridge Hotel Edit via the walking trail.

 

Investigator Strait Shipwreck Trail

Troubridge Hotel - Edithburgh Yorke PeninsulaDiscover the shipwrecks of the Investigator Strait Shipwreck Trail between southern Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island on the beautiful Yorke Peninsula. Captain Matthew Flinders named it in honour of his ship HMS Investigator. Between 1849 and 1982, 26 vessels are known to have been wrecked in these waters, with the loss of more than 70 lives.

Many of the wrecks are a haven for aquatic life and attract diving enthusiasts from around the world.
